Sorry, Auntie Dorothy, I Am Working Now

When you work form home, it is very easy to just to get out of bed and go to your work in your pajamas; it is easy not to worry about how you look like. After all, if all of your clients are in many different places of the country and maybe of the world. You don't see anybody, they don't see you. And who would really care how you do look like if nobody sees you, right?

Be Professional

Of course, there is no harm in your home business if you simply go to work dressed in whatever you feel comfortable and homely. The harm is going to be in the long term because of the way you see yourself as a professional. Well, you don't have to be wearing an expensive or fancy suit or a special outfit from boutique. The point is your whole attitude changes with a special "work" dress.

How does that influence your attitude, you may ask? By working dressed in your sleeping gear in your home office, even if the office is in the corner of your bedroom, you are telling yourself that there is no problem in being lazy and slacking off. Even more, unwillingly you are imprinting to your subconscious that you are not professional after all and maybe you should not be treated as such. After a while, you lose the feeling of running a real business. Can you imagine where it that going to lead?

Change few things a little so you always stay professional and keep reminding yourself that you ARE professional at all times. Your business will run much smoother.

The changes will include dressing yourself for work every day. There is no need of putting something "office-like" but rather something you will feel comfortable. That might be some sport dress but that particular clothing will be only for work.

You ought to also set working hours for yourself and let your family, neighbors and friends know about them. Don't let them disturb you during your work, they wouldn't if you would go to normal office complex, would they? By setting yourself business hours and sticking to them, you will be a real business man/woman no matter where you conducting your activities.

Also keep something else in mind: always answer the phone in professional manner, even if your aunty Dorothy is calling. Answer your emails in the same way. Present yourself to your prospects and customers as a serious home based business entrepreneur and they will take your seriously and will respect you, too.
